Every 15 seconds, a woman is beaten is this country. 85% of women and 63% of children entering shelters reported animal abuse in their home. Over 70% of pet owners entering domestic violence shelters report that their batterer had threatened, injured or killed family pets. Almost half of domestic abuse survivors delay leaving their abuser because they don’t have a safe place for their pet.
Hush Puppy Haven is a confidential program which provides safe, loving, temporary foster homes for pets of domestic violence victims. We are proud to collaborate with the Domestic Abuse Council dab The Beacon Center in helping to bring more victims and pets to safety.
